Don't Be Afraid…

Let me begin by saying, fear is just one part of life. It's what we come up against over and over again, so we can either learn to run from it or use it. And oh by the way, the choice of running or using it is also something that comes up over and over again as well.

With that as a backdrop, I know that asking you to "not be afraid," may bring up that nervous, chest tightening laugh, along with the obligatory rolling of the eyes…and that's a great start. It's, at the very least, a release.

You can "use" fear for that "kick in the pants" when you really need a boost in your life and your business. Don't believe me? Allow me to share a couple of personal examples of how I used it.

I was inspired to create a program that involved bringing together a series of speakers to share fantastic content - "their" best. I was also inspired to invite a few of my business "heroes" to be the speakers. They were NOT people who knew me, in all cases.

And in fact, I had to think about how to find a way to contact them. So I'll share my "insider secret" here…if you're not connected to your business heroes on Facebook - get connected and support them. It makes a "blind" intro much easier!

One of my heroes is connected to Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield and more. He is a BIG person in the marketing industry. That put some real fear into my process. So I realized all he could say is…"No, I'm too busy." Well, after a couple of weeks of back and forth, I DID get "I'm too busy"…but I also got, "I'll give you a window of my time between my trips!"

Now most "woo woo" people will tell you to ask, and then be detached from it. Well hell, I was chained to this one! I really wanted him, and as other speakers were confirming I just started to trust that this too was going to work out. However, I remained in action to get him…I didn't stalk him, but I did follow up.

The second "lesson" I received in pushing past fear was in offering this program -- with the speakers I wanted and in the format I chose. While I was hesitant, because I was doing something no one else was doing, I stayed connected to being "inspired" and my desire to share the information. Therefore, I was going for it.

Well, guess what! I saw another high level coach who knows and "liked" this program on FB create a similar program and just started offering it. How cool is that? Some would feel insulted…I was OVERJOYED! Look who's setting the pace…Whoo hoo!

So I don't want you to be afraid, one - of asking, because no one will know (but you) whether it worked out or not; and two - of not trying something new and different. In the first, you may get just what you're asking for and in the second, you can become your own "hero!"

Finally, I want to share a tut.com "Note from the Universe" that I keep in front of me, while working in my office. I hope it inspires you too!

"Fear, Chris, like joy, usually means that you're exactly where you should be, learning what you're ready to learn, about to become more than who you were."

If you're in that "fear" place, yet have an awesome idea, connect with a trusted friend, colleague or coach to "bounce" it off someone. Just talking it through can get rid of the fear, fast.
